There are many ways to support positive after-school activities for area youngsters, from kindergarten through high school ages. Activities can include sports, boy scouts, girl scouts, volunteering, field trips, and much more.  Below is a list some of the programs available in Salem and Keizer for after school activities.

 YMCA After-School Program
Offered for K-5th graders at selected schools five days per week. Operates on school in-service days and holidays. Contact YMCA Child Development, 503-399-2769 or their website for more information.
 Boys and Girls Club
Activities offered at each of their facilities, including the main Club and satellite clubs at Swegle and Kennedy Schools. Contact the Boys and Girls Club, 503-581-7383 or their website for more information.
 Youth Groups/Clubs
Offered for specific grade levels and serving youth who generally live close to one another or attend the same school. Programs are led by volunteer club leaders through Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Boys and Girls, 4-H/Extension, and Girl Scouts. (See list below for phone numbers.)
 Salem Child Development Center
K-5th grade students, offered at selected schools five days per week. Operates on school inservice days and holidays. Contact 503-363-9824 or their website for more information.

 School-Based Progams

All 12 of Salem-Keizer middle schools offer extended learning opportunties and homework assistance, which includes tutoring, recreation, enrichment, sports, community service, and field trips. Support is needed in the form of tutors, mentors, activity leaders and assistants, and chaperons, as well as donations of materials and funding for equipment and supplies.  Boys and Girls Club
Activities offered at the main Club or Walker Middle School branch site. Contact 503-581-7383 for information on programs for middle school youth, or visit their website.

 School-Based Programs
Each of the Salem-Keizer high schools offer after school activities, including intramural sports, athletics, theater arts, enrichment, and special interests. In addition, Barbara Roberts High School (alternative education program) offers enrichment activities. The majority of high school activities are sponsored by the individual school.
