City Attorney
The City Attorney's Office represents the City of Salem (
and companion entities such as Housing Authority of the City of Salem, Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Salem, and Hospital Facility Authority of the City of Salem) and cannot provide legal advice to private citizens. City Recorder
The City Recorder oversees the keeping of official records and documentation of official acts of the City of Salem such as City Council agendas and minutes, ordinances, resolutions, administrative orders, deeds and easements, agreements and contracts. In addition to being the City's Elections Officer, the City Recorder is the City's Records Manager and Archivist, as well as maintaining and distributing the Salem Revised Code.
The City Recorder coordinates public records requests. A request to see or obtain copies of public records must be made in writing and delivered to the City Recorder by the person making the request.
