Emergency Medical Services
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division oversees the administration of EMS services provided by Salem Fire Department and the subcontracted ambulance service provider, Rural/Metro Ambulance, within the City of Salem and the Salem Suburban Rural Fire Protection District.
These EMS administrative services include:
- Ambulance Service Area oversight and County franchise compliance reporting
- Continued Quality Improvement (CQI) and incident review
- Operational policy and treatment protocol development
- Emergency medical equipment maintenance and supply distribution
- Re-certification of the department's paramedics and licensing of its ambulances
- Liaison with local hospitals, public health, and emergency managers
- Community education and assistance to the Training Division
- Contract Administrator for Rural/Metro Ambulance
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Registration

The EMS Division is also responsible for ambulance billing for patients transported by Salem Fire ambulances as well as contracted billing for five other neighboring fire agencies and administration of the City of Salem Capital FireMed ambulance subscription program.

Register Your Automated External Defibrillator (AED)Your AED is a valuable asset to Salem. The Salem Fire Department would like to add your AED to our list of known AEDs. With this information our 9-1-1 Dispatch Center can advise the 9-1-1 caller that an AED may be on-site at their emergency. |
