The Fire and Life Safety division is responsible for the coordination of activities in five major areas.

• Fire and life safety inspections of all businesses and apartment complexes
• Investigation of the cause and origin of fires
• Fire and life safety plans review of all new or remodel construction of all businesses and apartment complexes
• Public safety education and information activities relating to fire and injury prevention and protection
• Citywide emergency management and disaster preparedness

• Launching model rockets can be a fun and educational hobby.  But did you know that you are required to have a Model Rocket Launching Permit reviewed by the Salem Fire Department before launching any model rockets inside the City of Salem?  Download this permit, complete it, then contact us to schedule a review.  You can send the completed permit by mail, fax, or bring it down to Station 1 in person.  There is not cost for this permit.
