City Municipal Code or Ordinances

The City's municipal code is online at Salem Revised Code.  Hard copies of codes or a particular ordinance may be obtained from the City Recorder's Office at 555 Liberty Street SE, Room 305, Salem, Oregon 97301, or by e-mail khall@cityofsalem.net .  The cost for hard copies is $.35 per page/side.

Public Records

The City of Salem Public Records Policy is available online at Public Records Policy. A request to inspect or obtain copies of public records must be made in writing - refer to Section VII of the policy and Form A: Public Records Request.

A request to inspect or obtain copies of a public record must be made in writing.  Persons are encouraged to use the standard Public Records Request form (Form A) provided by the City, although other forms of written requests will be accepted if all the information required on the standard form is provided.

The written request shall be delivered to the City Recorder by the person making the request, in one of the following methods:  in person or mail to City of Salem, Attention:  City Recorder, 555 Liberty Street SE, Room 205, Salem, OR 97301; by facsimile:  503-361-2202; or by e-mail: khall@cityofsalem.net
