The Salem Public Library Foundation is an independent organization dedicated to developing financial resources in support of the Salem Public Library. Financial support from the Foundation provides funds for special projects and programs to enhance Library service. Formed in 1981, the Salem Public Library Foundation is an not-for-profit organization under IRC § 501(c)3, independent of Salem City Government. Salem Public Library Foundation supports an array of projects at Salem Public Library, including:

- World of Music at the Library
- Community Relations/Volunteer Coordinator
- West Salem Library enhancements
- Large print books
