Technology Learning Center offers hands-on preview at Salem Public Library

Consumers who are interested in exploring the idea of using an eBook reader will find a useful, highly interactive service now available at Salem Public Library.

The new Technology Learning Center offers samples to touch and try of the Sony eReader, Barnes and Noble Nook, Amazon Kindle, and Apple iPad. Each has eBooks pre-loaded to provide a genuine experience for readers.

Funding for the purchase of devices included in the Technology Learning Center comes from a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Technology Grant.

The Technology Learning Center (TLC) is located near the Information/Reference Desk on the Main Floor at the Central Library, 585 Liberty St. SE. With devices tethered to the table and on display, the TLC is readily available on a first-come, first-served basis during all open hours.

 Simple directions to get started with each device are provided, as well as a comparison chart showing the features available for each. Additional help and information is available from the Information/Reference Desk in person or by phone at 503-588-6052.
