Seacats - Winners of the December 2009 Battle of the Bands 7 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 in Loucks Auditorium
Tickets: $5 in advance/$7 at the door On sale NOW at all Library Circulation Desks
The Seacats are an energetic, young (in some cases, really young) band that won over the judges and audience alike at the 2009 Battle of the Bands in December. They rocked a set of light, catchy melodies that had the crowd cheering and people humming on the way out the door.
Now, they’re making a return trip from their home in Kelso, Washington so the rest of Salem has a chance to enjoy their distinctive, upbeat fun indie-rock sound. Described as “fun, bouncy, crunchy power pop” and “garage rock meets the pool party,” the Seacats combine dirty guitars with bouncy melodies. Playing gigs around southern Washington and northern Oregon, they continue to draw in new fans and acclaim. Sample videos and tracks and a just-released downloadable EP are available to enjoy at their site, www.myspace.com/seacatsband. For a preview of their "We Don't Sleep" video - see below!
Concessions will be available for purchase at the event from the South Salem High School Japanese National Honor Society, which retains all proceeds. More information about the show and the World of Music at the Library series is available at www.salemlibrary.org or 503-588-6052. The series is sponsored by the Salem Public Library Foundation and Friends of Salem Public Library. |
