Holiday Mitten Tree Returns
December 1 - 31
Children's Room

Help to decorate the Mitten Tree by bringing
new or gently used mittens, hats, scarves, socks, and other warm fuzzy things to benefit local children and families in need.  The Mitten Tree will be available to decorate through the end of December.

Read to a Pet
2nd and last Saturday of the month
1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Children’s Room

This program offers children a relaxing, non-threatening way to improve their reading skills. Visiting dogs and cats have been trained and certified as therapy animals by Paws for Love and are mellow and friendly. This is a drop-in program, and sign-ups are not necessary.

Discovery Kids

Preschoolers, ages three, four and five, and their grown-ups are invited to share a story and enjoy hands-on art and experimental activities that boost the early literacy skills preschoolers need in order to be ready to read and write when they enter school.

Creative Kids After-School Adventures
Thursday, December 15
4-5 p.m.
Story Rooms A & B

Kids in grades 2 to 5 are invited to explore their creativity and sense of innovation every third Thursday of the month. This program offers the opportunity to develop a variety of skills with different hands-on projects from carpentry to sewing, music-making and more.

Register at the Youth Services Desk or online here. Parents are encouraged to stay for the duration of the program and join the fun.

Lego Party
Saturday, December 17, 2-3 p.m.

Ages 5 & Up

Our monthly Lego Parties return in September! Kids with their grown-ups are invited on the third Saturday of every month for an hour of unstructured Lego play. Legos are provided. Participants only need their imaginations. No sign-ups are necessary.

Join Youth Services staff for a special craft program to celebrate the shortest day of the year. All supplies provided. Sign-ups are not necessary.

Elementary-age kids are invited to create holiday gifts to give. Supplies are provided. Also, a special guest may make an appearance!

Holiday Book Bingo

Children and their grown-ups are invited to a special bingo program with books as prizes. Pre-readers should bring a reading partner.

Candy Land Party

Children’s author, Dawn Prochovnic, leads an interactive infant/toddler story time that incorporates American Sign Language into play activities.
This program is sponsored by the Oregon State Ready to Read Grant.
