Boogie Woogie Concert Eric Herman: Cool Tunes for Kids 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 7 Loucks Auditorium
Eric Herman, one of the most creative and entertaining kids’ musicians in the U.S. today, is a local favorite. With non-stop interaction and incredibly fun, engaging songs, Eric’s concert is an ideal choice for the entire family.
Seating is free on a first-come, first-seated basis.
Note: This concert takes the place of the Library’s Preschool Storytime for the day.

Preschoolers are invited to a Valentine's Day storytime party with stories, a craft and a special treat. No sign-ups are necessary.

Preschool Valentine Party 10:30-11:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 14 Anderson Rooms A&B
All preschool-aged children are invited to a special celebration of Valentine’s Day with holiday-themed stories, songs and a craft. Children will also be given a special Valentine’s Day treat.
Pre-registration is required online here or at the Youth Services Desk in person or by calling 503-588-6088.
(Please note: The Valentine’s Party replaces the regular 10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime for the day.)

Family Festival of the Arts Tears of Joy Theatre presents ... The Ugliest Duckling 7 p.m. Friday, February 17 Loucks Auditorium
The Ugliest Duckling is a retelling of the famous story by Hans Christian Anderson, set in Australia and staring little Yuckay, a platypus, in the role of the duckling that grows up to become a swan. However, since a platypus won’t grow into anything but a larger platypus, The Ugliest Duckling is a story that teaches children that everyone is different and unique for their own reasons.
The event is free on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Families of young children will share a story and do fun science and math activities to boost early literacy learning. It is limited to 30 families on first-come, first-served basis

Monthly Lego Party 3 p.m. Friday,February 24 West Salem Branch
Kids are invited on the last Friday of every month for an hour or two of unstructured Lego play. Legos are provided. Kids only need to bring their imaginations. No sign-ups are necessary.

“Snuggle Up!” Family Reading Club sign up through February!
Families are invited to add sparkle to the winter by joining the “Snuggle Up!” Family Reading Club offered by Salem Public Library during February and March.
For the eighth year, families who read aloud together for at least 15 minutes each and every day for one month will earn a new children’s paperback book for their home library. Families who do so for both February and March will earn an additional paperback book and a Frog Tote Bag as well.
Registrations continue through February at the Youth Services Desk. Each family will receive an official registration packet that includes a list of suggested read-aloud titles and a reading log on which to record the time spent reading aloud together.

Marie Haws: Kodály Music 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15 Anderson Rooms A&B
This class is taught in the tradition of Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodály, and will include songs, chants, and singing games for young children. Pre-registration is required online or at the Youth Services Desk at 503-588-6088.
