Read to a Pet
1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
2nd and last Saturday of the month
Children’s Room

This program offers children a relaxing, non-threatening way to improve their reading skills. Visiting dogs and cats have been trained and certified as therapy animals by Paws for Love and are mellow and friendly. This is a drop-in program, and sign-ups are not necessary.

Summer Reading Wrap-Up
Congratulations to the over 7000 readers who signed up and participated in the 2016 Summer Reading Club (babies through high school graduates).

Prize drawing winners may claim their prize at the Children's Desk, and participants who have read at least 20 hours may pick out their prize book to keep.

Back-to-School Blue Jeans Swap & Crafts
Saturday, September 3
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Anderson Rooms A & B

People of all ages are invited to bring in clean, outgrown jeans to swap. Collection begins at 10 a.m. "Shopping" begins at 11 a.m. You can also drop off jeans between now and September 3rd at any Ask Here desk. Old jeans will also be upcycled into trendy accessories. Craft materials and refreshments will be provided.

Discovery Room 30th Birthday Party

New and long-time fans of the Discovery Room are invited to enjoy treats, special guests, and popular activities from the last 30 years.

Lego Party
Saturday, September 17, 2-3 pm
Story Rooms A & B
Ages 5 & Up

Our monthly Lego Parties return in September! Kids with their grown-ups are invited on the third Saturday of every month for an hour of unstructured Lego play. Legos are provided. Participants only need their imaginations. No sign-ups are necessary.

Creative Kids After-School Adventures
4-5 p.m. Thursday, September 15
Story Rooms A & B

Kids in grades 2 to 5 are invited to explore their creativity and sense of innovation every third Thursday of the month. This program offers the opportunity to develop a variety of skills with different hands-on projects from carpentry to sewing, music-making and more.

Register at the Youth Services Desk or online here. Parents are encouraged to stay for the duration of the program and join the fun.
