Read to a Pet
1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
2nd and last Saturday of the month
Children’s Room

This program offers children a relaxing, non-threatening way to improve their reading skills. Visiting dogs and cats have been trained and certified as therapy animals by Paws for Love and are mellow and friendly. This is a drop-in program, and sign-ups are not necessary.

Discovery Kids

Story Rooms A & B

Preschoolers, ages three, four and five, and their grown-ups are invited to share a story and enjoy hands-on art and experimental activities that boost the early literacy skills preschoolers need in order to be ready to read and write when they enter school.

Boogie Woogie Preschool Concert featuring
Red Yarn
10:30 a.m Tuesday, October 11
Loucks Auditorium

Join Red Yarn and his critter friends for an exciting blend of folk music and puppetry.

This program replaces our regularly scheduled storytimes. Space is limited to a first come, first seated basis. Doors open 15 minutes prior to the start of the show.  Boogie Woogie concerts are made possible thanks to the support of the Friends of the Salem Public Library.

Creative Kids After-School Adventures
4-5 p.m. Thursday, October 20
Story Rooms A & B

Kids in grades 2 to 5 are invited to explore their creativity and sense of innovation every third Thursday of the month. This program offers the opportunity to develop a variety of skills with different hands-on projects from carpentry to sewing, music-making and more.

Register at the Youth Services Desk or online here. Parents are encouraged to stay for the duration of the program and join the fun.

Lego Party
Saturday, October 15, 2-3 pm
Story Rooms A & B
Ages 5 & Up

Our monthly Lego Parties return in September! Kids with their grown-ups are invited on the third Saturday of every month for an hour of unstructured Lego play. Legos are provided. Participants only need their imaginations. No sign-ups are necessary.
