Fizz, Boom, Read End of Summer Reading Club Blast
Friday August 22 2-4 p.m.
The Peace Plaza (between the library and City Hall) and Anderson Rooms

The end of August marks the time for Summer Reading Club participants to celebrate a summer of fabulous reading on the Library/City Hall Plaza. Registered participants who have completed at least 10 hours of reading or listening in the Summer Reading Club will be invited to join the Youth Services staff and volunteers to celebrate your achievement with a BLAST! Those who have read 20 hours or more are invited to stop at the Library Anderson Rooms between 1 and 4 p.m. to choose your free book.

The Summer Reading Club is made possible by the Oregon State Ready to Read grant, the Friends of the Salem Library, and many local businesses.  Please thank our sponsors!

The Children's Room Renovation is happening this Fall!

The Children's area was built nearly 25 years ago.  It is time to spruce things up and align this busy space with the best current youth literacy practices.  During this time of change, the Children's Area will be closed.  Youth Services staff will continue to provide programs and services in a more limited way and in various locations until it is time to move back into the new and improved space.

Beginning September 9th, Storytimes will be moving to the Anderson Rooms on the Plaza level of the library.

See to Read Vision Screenings
11 a.m. Tuesday, September 9 & Saturday, September 13
Anderson Rooms A & B

Early detection of vision problems helps ensure children entering school are ready to read.  Families are invited to participate in free vision screenings for children aged 3 - 7, provided through a partnership between Oregon Elks, Lions, and the Oregon Library Association.  The screenings will immediately follow our preschool storytimes.
