Landlord Training - April 20 & 21, 2011
Rental property owners, property managers, resident managers and realtors: The last Salem Police Department Landlord Training opportunity was held on April 21 and 22, 2010. A total of 67 people attended. The workshop is designed to teach participants about how to reduce crime in and around rental properties, as well as how to establish and maintain a stable rental environment.
Day one focuses on crime prevention strategies, recognition of drug and other types of criminal activity that can detract from the stability of any neighborhood. Added to the enforcement portion of the training are reviews of state and local ordinances related to neighborhood livability and housing codes. Officers with expertise in each of these areas will instruct the class and be able to answer common and uncommon questions that can help you protect your investment.
Day two is conducted in partnership with Campbell DeLong Resources and comprises an expanded section on Oregon landlord/tenant law and will include applicant screening, rental agreements, and the eviction process.
