Crime Prevention

Crime Prevention is everyone's responsibility.  Most crime is preventable. Our statistics show that almost half of the home burglaries occur through unlocked doors and windows. Each year we have several vehicles stolen because people leave the keys in the car while it is warming up in their driveway or while the driver goes into the store for coffee. Items such as tools, purses, cell phones, laptops and CD's are often stolen from vehicles because they are left in plain sight as the driver goes shopping.  Whether it is locking your doors and windows or keeping unattended valuables out of sight, those few simple steps can save you from being a victim.

Other things you can do to reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime:

Join Neighborhood Watch. This program promotes communication between neighbors and well as between neighbors and police. Neighborhood Watch also teaches you how to recognize and report suspicious activity that may be able prevent crime before it happens.  Our statistics have shown that when people are actively involved within their neighborhoods and with police, crime will happen elsewhere.

Keep apprised of what is going on in your community by subscribing to CrimeNet .  This service sends you periodic crime prevention bulletins via email.
