Meet the Salem Police Department Public Information Officer (PIO), Lt. Dave Okada.

As PIO, Lt. Okada is tasked with keeping the lines of communication open with the public regarding day-to-day and emerging incidents handled by the Salem Police Department.

PIO duties are required around the clock and Lt. Okada is often supported by the investigations lieutenant and the four patrol lieutenants who staff the Office of the Shift Commander.

Routine inquiries about crime or traffic incidents are handled by the shift commanders, while major incidents are handled by the PIO with the intention of keeping our community informed and prepared.
