Automatic Bill Pay
Simplify bill paying by signing up for the City of Salem’s free and convenient Automatic Bill Pay service. You may choose to allow your financial institution to automatically deduct funds from your checking or savings account to pay your Salem utility bills, or you may choose to have your payments automatically charged to a debit or credit card.
Reasons to Enroll
Your bill will always be paid on time, so even if you are away from home, you won’t have to worry about a late payment.
Automatic payments reduce the need for paper checks and envelopes, helping to conserve natural resources.
Automatic Bill Pay is free! Save money on printed checks and postage by never having to mail a payment.
How to Sign Up
To enroll, go to the City of Salem Utility Billing e‑Payment webpage and sign up as a registered user. Once you have registered and associated your utility account with your profile, select “Enroll” from the Billing & Payment Options box on the Account Summary screen and follow the instructions. If you need help, you can access the e‑Payment Help Guide or online Help menu.
Once you have enrolled in Automatic Bill Pay, your utility payments will be automatically deducted from your financial institution or charged to your card on the next payment due date. If the payment due date is prior to the Automatic Bill Pay enrollment date, the funds will be deducted on the next business day.
You will continue to receive a monthly utility bill showing the amount due and the date it will be paid by your financial institution. However, your next payment stub will read “Do Not Pay. Amount will be deducted automatically.”
How to Change Your Billing Options
If you plan to change banks or need to cancel Automatic Bill Pay, you can update your billing options from your City of Salem e-Payment account. Login and access your information by selecting “Change” from the Billing & Payment Options box on the Account Summary screen.
