Public Works Department

The City of Salem Public Works Department constructs and maintains the infrastructure necessary for the basic urban needs of the Salem metropolitan area. This includes a safe and reliable road system, healthy and plentiful water supplies, a well-functioning storm drainage system, and proper treatment of wastewater.

Please call Public Works Dispatch if you discover problems with your streets, water, or sewer service. If you need to request the start or cancelation of utility services or you have questions about your utility bill, please contact Customer Services.

When Should I Call Dispatch?

If you have a City infrastructure problem such as a broken pipe, pothole, or environmental spill to report, call the Dispatch Communications Center.

If you have a non-emergency issue to report, you may send an email to service@cityofsalem.net. Please include in your email what the issue is, an address or the location of the issue, and contact information including telephone number. Please do not send email messages for emergencies or inspections.

The Dispatch Communications Center is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Dispatch Communications Center is responsible for dispatching field crews and responding to an average of 20,000 customers annually who call with inquiries or to report a problem.
