City of Salem Public Works Department is assessing the satisfaction with and improvement needs to the city's streets and bridges.

Some of the services that need improvement are:
- Relieving congestion throughout the city
- Street repair such as paving and pothole patching
- Widening streets for more travel lanes
- City bridge repair
- Bicycle and pedestrian trails
- Sidewalk repair
- Street lighting
- Bicycle lanes and signs
- Pedestrian crossings
- River crossing
- Traffic signals
- Addition of new streets
- Signage and striping of streets
