Salem Housing Authority

On the first Monday of the month, the Council also meets as the Salem Housing Authority.  The City Councilors serve as Board members, along with a resident representative to make a nine-member Board.  The Mayor is not a member and the Council President serves as the presiding officer.  The Board is a separate agency responsible for developing and administering housing assistance programs for low-income households within the Urban Growth Boundary surrounding the cities of Salem and Keizer.

Urban Renewal Agency

The Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Salem is a separate municipal corporation responsible for governing Salem’s urban renewal areas: Riverfront/Downtown, Fairview Industrial Park, North Gateway, Pringle Creek, West Salem, Mill Creek Industrial Park, McGilchrist and South Waterfront.  The Urban Renewal Agency Board in Salem is constituted by the members of the City Council, with the Mayor acting as Chair.  The City Manager serves as the Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Agency.

The Urban Renewal Agency meets following the Council meeting on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 PM.
