Site C sold to Salem Alliance Church
Environmental cleanup complete & NFA letter received |
The Salem Alliance Church purchased the Agency-owned North Downtown “Site C” at Broadway and Gaines Street NE. They constructed Broadway Commons, a multi-story mixed-use development project with retail, office, church event space and on-site parking. The $11,000,000 building is currently certified as LEED Silver and is working toward LEED Gold certification.
The Church prepared the site for redevelopment, including removing several underground storage tanks and monitoring the site for possible environmental contamination, given its historic use as a gasoline service station and used car lot. |

MOU with Salem Alliance Church, for possible future site purchase
Building demolition& site preparation |
As a result, in September 2006, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued a conditional letter of No Further Action, meaning that no additional investigation or cleanup is necessary at the site. This represents a major milestone for the project.
The 50,000 square foot, multi-story development includes space for church needs, leasable space for commercial and office use, and a 400-seat multipurpose auditorium suitable for public events. The building features a large lobby used as a community gathering place, complete with a coffee stand. |
