Construction is underway on the 13-acre former Boise site.  On January 27, 2014, the Salem City Council approved the framework agreement to guide the private mixed-use development of nine acres along Commercial Street and allow the Pringle Square project to move forward.  The Purchase and Sale Agreement also details the City’s intent to acquire 3.8 acres of the property adjacent to Riverfront Park.

At Pringle Square, on the South Block (located on Commercial Street, east of the railroad and south of Pringle Creek) will be a combination of housing and office/retail space. On the North Block is proposed short-term rehabilitation units and office uses for the former Boise site. Visitors will reach the new residential and commercial development through accesses off Bellevue Street, Commercial Street or Front Street.  There is no longer a need for access to the private development through Riverfront Park or the Carousel parking lot.
