Salem Social Services

Through its needs assessment process, the Social Service Advisory Board (SSAB) has identified food, shelter, health, safety, and crisis resolution as the needs it will address through the City of Salem funding process.  It does this through a biennial request for proposal process that asks local non-profit agencies to apply for funds to alleviate these problems in the community. 

The SSAB meets monthly at: Urban Development Offices350 Commercial Street NE, Salem, Oregon 97301.

APPLICATIONS

CDBG, Social Service, and HOME applications are available and must be submitted to Urban Development 350 Commercial St. NE no later than 5:00 pm December 15, 2009.  If you have questions about the application process contact: Rena Peck or Toni Payseno at  the Urban Development office, 350 Commercial Street NE, Salem, Oregon 97301; phone: 503.588.6178.

These social service programs are administered with CDBG and General Funds through local sponsors:

Case Management  
Sponsor: Salem Outreach Shelter               
Description: Case management provided to very low-income families residing in the homeless shelter.
  Emergency Food
Sponsor:  Marion Polk Food Share
Description: Provides food to homeless and low income families.
     
HOST Case Management 
Sponsor:  NW Human Services
Description:  Provides case management to homeless youth in the day shelter.
Case Management
Sponsor:  Community Action Agency
Description: Provide assessment and initial intake evaluation of youth and day shelter.
 

Domestic Violence Case Management
Sponsor:
 Mid-Valley Women’s Crisis Service
Description: Provides services to victims of domestic violence.

Crisis Hotline and Emergency Services 
Sponsor: NW Human Services
Description:  Provides 24 hour suicide and crisis intervention, as well as emergency services.
 
Bus Pass Program
Sponsor:  Salem-Keizer School District
Description:  Provides bus tickets to homeless students.

Shelter Meals
Sponsor:  Salvation Army
Description: Provides meals to homeless individuals.

 

Resource Assistance Case Management
Sponsor:  YWCA
Description:  Provides case management to families and individuals in crisis, poverty or who are homeless.

Emergency Services
Sponsor:  Mano a Mano
Description:  Provides emergency services to people in crisis.
   

Emergency Services
Sponsor:  Congregations Helping People
Description:  Provides emergency services to people in crisis.

 

Meals and Nutritional Services
Sponsor:  NW Human Services
Description:  Provides emergency meals and nutritional services to homeless youth

 

Case Management
Sponsor:  Salem-Keizer School District
Description:  Provides case management to homeless students.
