Fairview

Located in southeast Salem - Overview - (PDF)

The Fairview Urban Renewal Area is comprised of 347 acres.  Current activities are focused on widening and enhancing part of Stong Road, construction of wetland mitigation projects, infrastructure, and managing redevelopment requirements for property sold within Fairview Urban Renewal Area.  This Area only collects approximately 40% of allowable tax increment to complete existing projects.

Strong Road
The Urban Renewal Agency has completed the Strong Road improvements, south of Reed Road on the western boundary of Fairview Industrial Park. This 1300 foot section of road was widened to 30 feet. K & E Excavating of Salem installed curbs on both sides, storm sewer, street lights and a sidewalk with protective fencing on the northeast side.  Due to the steep topography, a large retaining wall was constructed on portions of the northeast side to accommodate the widening.  Work began in mid June and was completed in October of 2010; the improvements cost just over $600,000.
