Salem-Keizer is located near many fine teaching colleges and universities. Strong student-teacher and recruitment efforts draw the best talent from our local area and throughout the nation. Salem-Keizer teachers win national awards for helping students excel.

    High Quality Instruction

Student SAT scores consistently beat the state and national averages. In 2005, the District average score of 1067 beat the state average by 13 points and the national average by 39 points. Salem-Keizer offers a broad range of curricular and extracurricular activities including math, science, sports, Grammy-Award-winning music programs and a nationally recognized Web-based school.

Graduates who are Ready to Work

Professional-technical programs, business internships, unified K-12 math and literacy curricula, an attendance program with teeth in it and an Early College partnership with Chemeketa Community College help students prepare for the workplace. Seniors graduate ready-to-work--with the professional skills and the attitude employers want.

    Community Partnerships

Local schools are genuinely local in Salem-Keizer, as evidenced by the thriving level of parental involvement. More than 200 businesses are official partners with our schools. Partnering with families, businesses and neighborhoods helps us educate all our children at the highest possible level.

    Local Support for Safe Schools

Salem-Keizer School District ensures the safety of its students by working closely with community organizations. The student transportation system is recognized as one of Oregon's best. In 1998, local voters passed a bond measure providing $177 million for 10 new schools, and capital improvements throughout the District.
