Scientists have discovered that learning multiple languages is best started during infancy. Babies from birth through 18 months are invited to bring an adult to a bilingual babytime every Wednesday. Adults do not need to speak Spanish to participate.

Los científicos han descubierto que aprender múltiples idiomas se empieza mejor durante la infancia. Los bebés de entre el nacimiento y 12 meses son invitados a traer un adulto a Cuentos Bilingües para Bebés todos los miércoles a la 1:30 p.m. empezando el 5 de julio. Los adultos no necesitan hablar ingles para participar.

Spring Chick Women's Conference 2017
"Young at Heart"
Center 50+ will host their annual Spring Chick Women's Conference on Saturday, April 8th from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.  This year's theme is "Young at Heart", featuring Comedian Susan Rice and Singer John English with a "Tribute to Frank Sinatra.
Tickets are $10 each and include breakfast, snacks, speakers, workshops, vendors, entertainment and door prizes.
Tickets go on sale March 1st. Purchase tickets in advance at Center 50+.  Limited number of tickets available.
This year's conference is sponsored by Medical Center Eye Clinic, Salem Health, Salem Clinic, Northwest Rehabilitation Associates and Friends of the Salem Senior Center.

Save the dates for the Friends of Bush Gardens 34th Annual Spring Plant Sale, The Riverside Plant Sale, at Salem’s Riverfront Park Pavilion and north lawn.  This is the same site as last year, providing more parking, easier access, and greater visibility.  An outstanding selection of plants will be available from some of Mid-Willamette Valley’s most dedicated growers. In addition, "Celebrate Earth Day" will be the focus of the event with an emphasis on organic vegetable starts, herbs, native plants, unusual edible fruits, and choice plants for all your landscape needs. All proceeds benefit Bush’s Pasture Park. Visa and MasterCard will be accepted.

The Stronger Together 5K Walk, Run & Roll is a region-wide event where RMHC supporters join forces to walk, run and roll to support families staying at local Ronald McDonald Houses. This iconic summer event is an old time ice cream social with an "edge" -- that being the 5K and 10K events. Both courses are flat trails through a natural setting and along the Willamette River. Ice cream sundaes are included in registration, which is limited to 400. After online registration ends, check wvroadrunners.org for status; day of race registration is $20, 6PM at the Minto shelter.

Now in its 68th year, the Art Fair attracts approximately 30,000 visitors from all over the nation and is committed to upholding the importance of fine arts and crafts by providing access to a range of artistic mediums appealing to both art appreciators and art collectors alike.
Over the course of three days, the Salem Art Fair & Festival features more than 200 artists, two entertainment stages, two craft beer and wine gardens, more than 20 food booths, a Kids’ Court with art activities for the whole family, a plant sale and much more.
 
Your admission price helps fund the Salem Art Association’s core programs: the Bush Barn Art Center, the Bush House Museum and Community Arts Education.
Finding parking near the event can be difficult, so take advantage of a complimentary HUT Portland Airport Shuttle that runs from Pringle (325 High St. SE Salem) and Marion (400 Marion St. NE Salem) Parkades in downtown Salem. The shuttle will run 10 am-10 pm Saturday, and 10 am-6 pm Sunday.

CELEBRATE FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY
 
Held at Salem's Riverfront Park the first Saturday of each August, Riverfront Family Fest is one of the largest community events in Salem with nearly 4,000 guests each year. This health and safety resource fair is free to attend. With a range of family-friendly activities, Riverfront Park comes to life, providing a safe and fun place for families to spend time with each other and to build new relationships with other community members.
