Scientists have discovered that learning multiple languages is best started during infancy. Babies from birth through 18 months are invited to bring an adult to a bilingual babytime every Wednesday. Adults do not need to speak Spanish to participate.

Los científicos han descubierto que aprender múltiples idiomas se empieza mejor durante la infancia. Los bebés de entre el nacimiento y 12 meses son invitados a traer un adulto a Cuentos Bilingües para Bebés todos los miércoles a la 1:30 p.m. empezando el 5 de julio. Los adultos no necesitan hablar ingles para participar.

Bridgeway Recovery Walk Run presents the 2016 3rd annual 5K and 10K Events to promote Recovery Awareness!
 
The Bridgeway Recovery Walk and Run offers 5K and 10K options along the scenic Willamette River at Minto Brown Park in Salem, OR. The purpose of this event is to promote Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Awareness, and reduce the stigma associated with Addictions and Mental Health issues.
 
 2016 Buddy Walk Fundraiser!Riverfront Park9/25/2016 1:00 PM
The Willamette Valley Down Syndrome Association’s 20th Annual Buddy Walk® is on Sunday, September 25th, 2016, at the Riverfront Park in Salem.
 
The National Down Syndrome Society started The Buddy Walk in New York City and it has grown from 17 walks around the country in 1995 to more than 250 walks and 285,000 participants in 2011.  The Goal of the Buddy Walk is to promote understanding and acceptance of people with Down Syndrome. Our Music and Art theme this year lends itself to lots of exciting Activities and Games.  We will have a Self-Advocate guest Speaker and our famous Buddy Walk around Riverfront Park, while promoting awareness for all people with Down syndrome. The WVDSA is run by volunteers only so 100% of ALL the funds raised for the Buddy Walk, go to support the festivities of this year’s Buddy Walk along with other things including:

-National Education
-Research
-Training for Families
-New Parent Gifts and Family Support

It's our first ever 10k run/walk! Join us for a fun filled and energetic run/walk around Minto-Brown Island Park! Come see why Minto-Brown Island Park is so popular and all the new things coming to our park. Can't wait to see you there!

To register ahead of time, visit our office located at 555 Liberty Street SE Room 325. Office hours are 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday. We are open during lunch.

On race day, registrations will be taken from 8:15 - 8:45 am.

 1st Annual Salem Out of the Darkness Community WalkRiverfront Park10/8/2016 10:00 AM
When you participate in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people nationwide to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
 
As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers like you from cities across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
 
Make sure to arrive early to allow time to explore the Out of the Darkness Walk Resource Fair. Information tables hosted by local businesses and non-profit organizations will open at 8:30am. This is your opportunity to gather literature, hear about upcoming events, and connect with others who are dedicated to making a difference in the community.
