On July 26, 2010, City Council approved the undertaking of a combined effort to study parks revenue sources for parks maintenance and operations, and complete the update to the Salem Comprehensive Parks System Master Plan (CPSMP) utilizing a single Parks Revenue and Master Plan Task Force.
The Task Force is comprised of a 16-member Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) and is represented by the Salem Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (SPRAB), City Council, Salem Parks Foundation, Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, Salem-Keizer School District, the Latino Community, and At-Large members representing the North/Northeast, South/Southeast, and West Salem areas.
A contract Parks Planner will be hired to complete much of the planning effort, which will be led and augmented with assistance from existing Parks and Transportation Services Division management staff, as well as a Technical Advisory Committee made up of staff representatives from various City departments, Marion County Parks Division, Home Builders Association, and the Salem-Keizer School District.
It is anticipated that the CPSMP will be completed and adopted by spring of 2012. The kick-off meeting was held October 26, 2010. See below for the next scheduled meeting of the Policy Advisory Committee. Meetings will also be posted on the Public Meetings calendar.
Background materials, agendas, and additional handouts can be found by clicking on links below. Many of the background documents listed were completed by the previous contractor, MIG Inc., in 2008, and will be reviewed by the committee as they move forward in their policy deliberations and recommendations.
