Camp Rosenbaum Each July, the Housing Authority sends a limited number of youth campers, ages 9-11, from Public Housing and Voucher programs and employee camp counselors to Camp Rosenbaum on the Oregon coast. Held at Camp Rilea near Astoria, Camp Rosenbaum has a long tradition of providing camping opportunities to low-income youth through partnership with several Oregon housing authorities as well as the Oregon National Guard, Portland Police and Fire Bureaus, and various law enforcement agencies. Camp Rosenbaum offers numerous activities aimed at having fun and building self esteem, as well as fostering a healthy regard and trust in adults.
After attending a recent Camp Rosenbaum, youth campers shared these comments with camp counselors:
"I have waited half my life to come to camp and had even MORE fun than I ever thought I would!" (Chelsea)
"I had so much fun and now it's time to leave. Hopefully I can come again next year because everything was so much fun I couldn't choose my favorite thing!" (Lyn-Z)
