Project -Washington Elementary School - Vision Testing
The ACT NOW Team assisted with Vision Tests at Washington Elementary School on Thursday, May 22, 2014 and Friday, May 23, 2014.
Project -Washington Elementary School - Reading Program
The ACT NOW Team assisted with Literacy Night at Washington Elementary School on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Volunteers assisted with reading and craft projects.
Project - Outreach Program Holiday Project
Act Now participants volunteered to collect items to create gift bags filled with items for Center 50+'s Outreach Program that works with homebound seniors. The ACT NOW TEAM gathered on Thursday, December 19th to assemble the bags and share some holiday cheer. They sorted, wrapped gifts, and filled the bags with items such as handmade scarves, handmade shopping bags, crossword books, calendars, writing materials, lotion, cards and more.
Project - Operation Santa
Act Now participants volunteered with Operation Santa sponsored by the Marine Corps Family Foundation. Volunteers filled Christmas stockings, wrapped gifts, made cards, packed boxes, etc... for our deployed soldiers. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 -at Center 50+ Auditorium- 2615 Portland Rd NE, Salem, OR.
Project- Veteran's Stand Down
ACT NOW participants volunteered at the Veteran's Stand Down Event held at the Salem Armory on Friday, September 27, 2013. Volunteers greeted Vets, served coffee and donuts, directed Vets to services and served over 300+ lunches.
Project - Draft Stoppers
Volunteers completed approximately 60 Draft Stoppers on May 23rd. The draft stoppers were filled with cat litter. PETCO-Keizer Station generously donated some of the cat litter for the project.
Door stoppers were donated to the Community Action Agency's Energy Assistance Program to give to their clients to assist in reducing energy costs and reduce the strain on heating resources in our community.
Thank you to the Sewing Club at Center 50+ for preparing the draft stoppers for us to fill.
