AUTHORITY: Chapter 8 TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Mayoral Appointment
NUMBER OF MEMBERS: Fifteen TERM LENGTH: Three years

The Human Rights and Relations Advisory Commission advises the City Council on human rights issues. This Board aids all persons, particularly minorities and handicapped persons, by hearing and resolving discrimination complaints and by promoting racial harmony. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Special Complaints Hearings are held as cases are filed with the Commission.

Special membership requirements: Appointments are to be representatives of the residents of the City of Salem.
