August 28, 2007 - Second Alarm- Commercial Fire

On Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 5:47 AM, a first alarm assignment (3 Engines, Ladder Truck, Medic Unit and Battalion Chief) responded to a Commercial Fire at 1947 Claxter Road NE, Braka Industries.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported fire coming from the rear of the business. A 2nd-alarm was called at 5:53 AM bringing more apparatus and fire fighters to the scene. Fire fighters made an attack to the rear of this large commercial building. Flames poured out of attached dust collection room. Fire fighters knocked down the flames stopping the spread of the fire to the rest of the structure.

It took 23 Firefighters just 20 minutes to knock down the fire and control the incident. The fire was contained to the room of origin. Due to fire fighters actions the rest of the business received only minor smoke damage.

Salem fire investigator is on scene at the time of the release. The loss is estimated at $60,000 ($10,000 Structure & $50,000 Contents). No injuries were reported.
