What is ArcReader?ArcReader is a free desktop mapping tool that allows users to view and print maps. It is available to download from ESRI and can install onto your computer.Download ArcReader on ESRI Website The City of Salem GIS Professionals have created ArcReader map files, called PMF files, for your use. ArcReader, combined with City Information, allows you to build your own maps through zooming in/out, turning map features on/off, and printing. Additional functionality includes analyzing maps, which is done through identifying map features and gathering measurements. How to download City ArcReader Files?If the ArcReader icon (1. Verify that you have ArcReader loaded onto your home or business computer. If you do not have ArcReader installed, click the link above to the ArcReader Download Website. 2. Click on the icon.( 3. Your web browser will ask you to download a zip file. Save the zip file to your computer. 4. Unzip the file to a file location of your choosing. You must have a unzip utility on your home or business computer to unzip a file. 5. Open the folder that the unzip created. You should see a data and pmf folder. 6. Open the pmf folder. Within this folder should be a PMF file. This is the ArcReader file that you want to open.
