The Salem Police Department is currently staffed by 189 sworn police officers and 109.25 civilian employees, whose mission is to respond to the law enforcement and public safety needs of our community.  The department subscribes to the Community Oriented Policing model to bring police and citizens together to better fight crime in our community.  The five divisions (Administration, Communications, Investigations, Patrol and Support) are designed to provide the most efficient and timely service possible to our citizens.

We hope you will find the information available at this site informative and helpful. We have included not only information about the department itself, but also information which we feel will be of benefit to you in becoming our partner in making Salem a safe and enjoyable place to live and visit.

Our mission, together with our community, is to reduce the fear of crime, protect individual rights, and enhance the quality of life.

If you wish to report a non-emergency crime, call (503) 588-6123.
