Social Service Advisory Board


Seeking Applications

The City of Salem Social Service Advisory Board is seeking appications from individuals interested in serving on the Board, which reports directly to City Council. The responsibilities and accomplishments of the Board include:

  • Assesses the state of social services available, provided to, and needed for residents of Salem.
  • Recommends programs for City funding (approximately $625,000 per year).
  • Develops opportunities for service providers to share information, coordinate and improve their programs, and maximize their ability to meet the local social service needs.

In October 2005 and again in November 2007, the Social Service Advisory Board hosted over 300 people at the Salem Conference Center for The City That Cares social service forum.

The 11-member Board meets on the third Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
