Description

In May 2005, the Urban Renewal Agency Board initiated amendments to the Riverfront-Downtown Urban Renewal Plan to: add a new project for core-area redevelopment; update the Plan’s amendment process to reflect current policies, establish consistency among urban renewal plans; and edit the Plan text to reflect project completion.

The proposed amendments were reviewed with the Central Area Neighborhood Development Organization (CANDO) and the Grant Neighborhoods Association, the Planning Commission, affected taxing districts, the Downtown Advisory Board, and the Agency Board in July and August 2005, prior to Council consideration.  At that time, Council deferred a public hearing indefinitely and referred the amendments to the Downtown Advisory Board (DAB) for further deliberation.  The DAB considered the amendments on January 12, 2006, and forwarded a recommendation to Council.  Council considered the recommendation for amendments at a public hearing on August 28, 2006.
