Utility Access and Rates

Clean water, clean air, clean energy sources - environmental advantages like these have always been a part of the attraction of Oregon.  The City of Salem cultivates these same assets.  We recently became the first state capital in the nation to be named a Green Power community by the Environmental Protection Agency.

  • Electricity. Salem is fortunate to have two electricity providers.  Both Salem Electric and Portland General Electric provide this critical service to businesses in our community.
  • Water.  Constant monitoring at the City's treatment facility and daily routine testing of the water at various sites throughout the distribution system helps ensure that a clean and safe product is being delivered to 177,000 customers and that all federal and state regulations are met.  Learn more about the City's award winning water quality and rates
  • Wastewater.   Our Willow Lake Facility’s commitment to excellence is exhibited by the receipt in 2005 of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies Platinum Achievement Award, conferred to facilities that achieve 100 percent compliance with discharge standards for five consecutive years.  Learn more about sewer rates.
  • Utility Maps.  Interested in a map of utilities in Salem?

  • EnergyTrust of Oregon. Dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable efficiency generation, the Energy Trust invests in efficiency technologies and renewable resources that save dollars and protect the environment.

"Salem is a rare melding of abundant land, strategic location, a ready workforce, access to higher education, and compelling demographics on top of our arts, culture, good schools, recreation opportunities, and a city government dedicated to serving business."

- Mayor Janet Taylor, City of Salem
