Staff is actively working to promote downtown housing. A mix of 275 condominiums, apartments, and townhomes are expected to be completed in the next few years in downtown Salem. Most of the projects contain a mix of uses and include:
- Bishop Building (145 Liberty Street NE): 8 large loft apartments - Completed 2006
- Salem Arts Building (155 Liberty Street NE): 13 apartments - Completed 2006
- Metropolitan Building (160 Liberty Street NE): 14 apartments - Residential Units Complete - Under Lease-up - 50% Leased
- 295 Church Street SE (Church and Trade): 27 condominiums - Planned Completion Fall 2008
- The Meridian (Commercial Street at Mission): 89 condominiums - Planned Completion Fall 2008
- Site B – YWCA Project (1200 Broadway NE): 54 affordable rental units; 1 market rate unit - Resdential Currently Under Lease-up.
- Site A - (1195 Broadway NE): 21 apartments; 16 for-sale
- Anderson Building - Exterior Renovation Complete. 1st Phase Ground Floor Commercial Space 50% Leased
