Livability & Neighborhoods Strategy

Pursue opportunities for organized group sports in neighborhood parks.

Status Update

Neighborhood parks are usually small in size, have on-street parking, have no restrooms, and no specific sports fields (i.e. soccer, softball, baseball). Most of the neighborhood parks have a backstop that little league baseball and recreational soccer teams use for practice on a drop-in basis, so they are often not compatible with group sports activities.

This matter will be pursued as one of the "key questions" addressed in the 2007 Comprehensive Park and Recreation System Master Plan process currently underway and scheduled to go to Council in February 2008.
