Considerable activity is underway regarding partnering on advertising and marketing opportunities. The Marketing Managers from several of these and other groups meet on a regular basis to explore ways to leverage and coordinate marketing. Two major marketing efforts that were a result of this partnership are the advertisement campaign for Delta’s new commercial air service in Salem and the Oregon Business Magazine Tour.
The city contracted with the Salem Chamber of Commerce to promote new air service. The Chamber created the Fly Salem logo, bought both radio and television commercials, placed flyers in both local papers and utility bills, and bought billboard space promoting the new commercial service. The city also worked with the Chamber and SCVA to plan a celebration in Salem and Salt Lake City during the inaugural flight out of Salem on June 7th, 2007.
In September, the Oregon Business Magazine toured Oregon in order to promote cities throughout the state. The city, Chamber, SCVA and SEDCOR all helped to plan and organize a tour of Salem businesses.
