Information TechnologyThe Information Technology Department (IT) is responsible for the City of Salem technical operations and environment. Working together with other city departments, IT provides solutions and support for hardware, software, data, and policy needs. The mission of IT is to provide excellent leadership and customer service toward technology solutions to support the city, so that departments are better able to meet the needs of our citizens. Applications and ProgrammingThe role of the Applications and Programming Division is to effectively manage and support new and on-going delivery of computer application services to all departments. This Section provides custom programming, support for off-the-shelf software, as well asdatabase administration for all City databases.Geographic Information Systems (GIS)The IT GIS Division is responsible for the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of the City’s GIS program, building and maintaining an integrated and compatible Citywide GIS. The GIS Division provides geospatial services to all City departments and to citizens. The GIS offers a comprehensive overview of City assets and is organized in “layers” of thematic information.
