GIS Day 2008

Be sure to join us for GIS Day 2008
this November!

The last GIS Day held in the Oregon State Capitol, in 2006, had an exhibitor/map gallery area created by our participating organizations, a media room set up with pre-recorded demonstrations, and a small theater area set up for live presentations.

Who should visit GIS Day?

Citizens are encouraged to participate to learn more about how GIS is used in decision making throughout all levels of government. Students of all ages are encouraged to participate to learn more about this commonplace, yet often behind the scenes powerful technology. Employees from around the region should participate to meet other local professionals. Employees from participating agencies should come to learn more about how their agencies are using GIS and possibly tap into the resources available through the use of GIS. Everyone is welcome!

What is GIS Day?

GIS Day is a grassroots event that formalizes the practice of geographic information systems (GIS) users and vendors of opening their doors to schools, businesses, and the general public to showcase real-world applications of this important technology. The event is free and open to the public.
