Purpose

The purposes of Salem Neighborhoods Inc (SNI) are:

• To provide and promote opporutnities for increasing and improving communication and cooperation within and among neighborhoods and residents in the Salem area through public discussion, community education, and the exchange of information.
• To encourage and sponsor activities and projects to increase the livability of the physical and social environments of the Salem area.

How Neighborhood Associations Participate

SNI is a membership corporation. Member delegates from neighborhood associations (NAs) elect a Board of Directors to conduct the day-to-day business of the corporation. Although the Board may make recommendations to the members for approval, daily business is determined by the neighborhood associations' needs.

The members suggest the general types of services and develop action plans for what they would like to receive, and the Board of Directors seek methods to provide those services.
