How do I pay OR contest a parking ticket?
You can pay a Parking Ticket in two ways
To pay by mail
Within 14 calendar days of issuance, enclose a check or money order (payable to the City of Salem) and the citation in the envelope provided and mail.
To pay in person
Within 14 calendar days of issuance, pay at the Parking Services Division Office, 340 Chemeketa St. NE or at the City of Salem Finance Division 555 Liberty St. SE Rm. 230, between the hours of 8:00 AM. and 5:00 PM., Monday - Friday. Please bring the citation with you when paying in person.
You can contest a Parking Ticket in two ways
To contest the citation by writing, please do the following
Return the citation, include the amount due (bail) and any increase for late payment (See below) and a letter of explanation. Your letter of explanation must be received by the Parking Services Division within 14 calendar days of the date of issuance. The court will consider your letter and render a decision based on the letter and the information provided by Parking Services, or set the matter for a hearing. The disposition may include, but is not limited to, full or partial forfeiture or dismissal.
To contest the citation in person, please do the following
Appear within 14 calendar days of the date of issuance at the Salem Municipal Court, 555 Liberty St SE., Room 215, Salem, Oregon 97301. You must appear between 8:00 AM. and 8:30 AM., Monday, Thursday or Friday. Please bring the citation with you when appearing in court.
FAILURE TO PAY
Payments must be received or contested within 14 calendar days of the date of issuance or the fine will escalate by $10.00. If paid more than 30 calendar days from the date of issuance, the fine escalates another $10.00 (add a total $20.00 to parking fine if paid more than 30 calendar days after date of issuance.
