Great cities have great parks
In 2005, the Salem Parks Foundation issued five grants totaling $2,500 to improve neighborhood parks throughout Salem. A number of Neighborhood Associations submitted grant proposals describing the park they wanted to enhance, information about the current use and users of the park, what the money would be used for and why their park needed the grant. Recipients of the grants for 2005 include:
Hoover School Park
1250 Savage Road NE: North East Salem Community Association (NESCA) was awarded a $500 grant to purchase and install a bench at Hoover School Park.
McKay School Park
2755 Hollywood Dr NE: North Lancaster Neighborhood Association was awarded a $500 grant to purchase and install a bench at the park.
Richmond School Park
540 Richmond St. SE: Southeast Salem Neighborhood Association was awarded a $500 grant to buy a chin-up bar for a walking path near the park.

Mill Race Park
2100 Ferry SE: Southeast Salem Neighborhood Association was awarded a $500 grant to buy a tree, a sign and shrubs to enhance the park.
Eola Ridge Park
2400 Eola Drive NW: The West Salem Neighborhood Association requested that the $500 grant be used to install new trails, a picnic table, a garbage can and provide various supplies to enhance this park.
