Harry and Grace Thorp Park

1400 38th Ave NE

This 1.3 acre park was donated by Fred Meyer Inc. in 1978.  A park name change was submitted to City Council on 1-5-04 by the Northeast Neighborhood Association.  NESCA decided to rename the park after distinguished citizens, Harry and Grace Thorp, who were both active in the community.  Harry served on the City Council for Ward 6 from 1983-1994 and Grace served on the Salem-Keizer School Board.  A Community Development Block Grants has been awarded to upgrade the lot into a neighborhood park.  The project was completed in November 2004 and now offers:

Facilities:

Multi-purpose court
Tot and school age play structures
Picnic tables
Bike rack
Benches
Lights
Irrigation
Drinking fountain
Open play field
