Description: Originally introduced into the United States in the early 1800s, Japanese maples exhibit many types of cultivars, ranging from prostrate shrubs to upright trees. This spectacular example is very large for its species and displays beautiful colors in the fall.

Description: This large honeysuckle is the last remaining tree from a federal beautification planting done in the latter part of the 19th century.

Linden leaves

Location: 23rd Street SE, from State Street south to the railroad tracks.

Description: This group of approximately 60 trees was planted in the first half of the 20th century. The canopy "tunnel" is several blocks long and has become a neighborhood landmark.
