Park volunteers are #1!

Volunteers serve their community through many roles:
  • Litter pick-up
  • Park Patrol
  • Park Partnership
  • Fire hydrant painting
  • Donating supplies, money, and talent
  • Deadheading roses
  • Organizing fundraisers
  • Wetlands support

--and more!

January Partner of the Month

Parks Maintenance Management has selected Easter Seals Senior Community Service Employment Program as the January 2008, Partner of the Month. This organization provides participants, for a designated period of time, who want to learn the skills and knowledge of park maintenance. Currently, participants Bob, Jerry and Rose each dedicate twenty hours a week to Parks Maintenance Management. They are valuable contributors to the work that is done by this Division. Thanks to the Easter Seal program, these folks are able to get employment training so that they are able to create a better life for themselves.

Thank you Easter Seals!

Fire Hydrant Painters

Fire hydrants are painted to make them more visible in the event of an emergency situation, making this a very valuable project to undertake. It is also a great group project! All equipment to scrape, clean, and paint the fire hydrants is provided by Parks Operations Division.
