City of Salem 2006 Proposed AnnexationsFor 2006, annexation proposals for the City of Salem are included on two separate election ballots, September 19, 2006 and November 7, 2006. The City of Salem Charter requires annexations to be decided by the voters. (This charter provision was approved by Salem voters on May 16, 2000). In general, the September ballot included City initiated annexation proposals and the November ballot will include annexation proposals initiated by property owners. NOVEMBER 7, 2006 ELECTION On the November 7, 2006 ballot , 32 territories will be included as annexation proposals requested by the property owners. A summary list and city quadrant maps of the 32 territories proposed for annexation that will appear on the November 7, 2006 ballot are included in this website, labeled as follows:

Marion County residents will receive information in the Voter Pamphlets produced and distributed by Marion County. The City will mail copies of that information to residents of Polk County, which will be titled “A West Salem Voter’s Guide to City of Salem Measures.” The West Salem publication will not contain any arguments filed for or against the measure in Marion County Elections Office. Election information is also available on the Marion County Clerk’s Office website at http://clerk.co.marion.or.us/election and Polk County information is available at http://www.co.polk.or.us/Clerk.
