Landslide Hazard - Landslide Code Amendments

Background
On March 25, 2003, the City of Salem received a formal copy of the Western Oregon Debris Flow Hazard Report from the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. Since this report identified approximately 42 areas in Salem as having potential for rapidly moving landslide hazards, City staff are revising Salem's landslide hazard maps and landslide hazard ordinance. A significant number of these new designations show a correlation to areas in Salem that were identified in 1999 and 2000 as having a high susceptibility to water-induced and earthquake-induced landslide hazards.
