The purpose of this monthly newsletter is to engage citizens in activities that benefit their own neighborhood as well as the general community. Information presented includes educational workshops, volunteer activities, the opportunity to review and comment on proposed City plans, City news and updates, an overview of City Council activities, and more.
The newsletter is widely distributed to interested neighborhood association members and other Salem citizens. Neighborhood Services periodically produces bulletins on current issues facing neighborhood associations and other citizens. The topics for a bulletin generally are not preplanned, but are identified as it becomes apparent that neighborhood associations need more information in order to respond successfully. Examples include providing input on City planning processes for the Capital Improvements Program (CIP); City budget; and transportation, parks, or land use issues.
