Success Stories
Five-year-old Luke* expressed worry to his friend about playing with other kids in the neighborhood. His friend told his mom, who spoke to Luke and learned that a teenage boy in the area had been touching Luke behind a fence, while other kids played kickball. Luke was nervous and his parents had many questions and concerns. The family came to Liberty House, and Luke was reassured by a pediatrician that his body will be okay. Luke’s story was carefully documented, and Luke informed staff that another boy in the area was also having the same difficulty. Agency officials and family caregivers were able to use the information to keep neighborhood children safe. Parents and caregivers received information and referrals to community resources.
