Maintenance Needs

Temporary Irrigation

Because there is no electricity at this location, an automated irrigation system cannot be implemented at Kroger Park. Thus, the irrigation will need to be manually turned on and off. Irrigation will be maintained, as needed, throughout the summer and fall and will be discontinued once the vegetation is matured and can withstand drier weather.

Touch-up Plantings

As vegetation experiences mortality, or when it does not perform an intended function, there may be a need to plant (or remove in some cases) additional plants to maximize vegetative cover.

Invasive and Non-native Species Removal

When other plants not intended for this site are present, it is important to curb their establishment so that desirable species will not be negatively affected. Every spring and fall, the site will be maintained by volunteers who will remove non-native and invasive plants and cut grass. It is important that desired species receive the sunlight they need and not get shaded out by undesirable species.
