How to Save Money on Your Water/Sewer Bill
Each residential customer's bill has a sewer charge based upon the amount of water the customer used during the previous winter billing period. Every winter, during the two months prior to your January or February bill, the City monitors the amount of water each customer uses.
Your sewer charges are based on usage during these winter months when people are not using water to irrigate lawns and most of the water used goes down the sewer. The "base consumption" number on your bill is based on your water usage during this winter billing period and will be used to calculate your sewer bill all year long - no surprise increases in the summer when watering your lawn results in higher water usage. Conserving water during these winter months results in lower sewer bills later.
Your water bill will tell you how many 100 cubic feet (ccf) you've used. 1 ccf (unit) = 100 cubic feet = 748 gallons
To convert 100 cubic feet to gallons, multiply by 748. 10 ccf = 7,480 gallons
