Collection System Improvements
Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) RemovalSSOs occur during periods of increased rainfall when diluted, raw sewage is released from the collection system. The purpose of this program is to eliminate SSOs identified to occur during rainfall events up to a five-year rainfall event. These projects typically consist of increasing conveyance capacity to the treatment facility through:
In addition, the utility funds a program to provide for protection of properties subject to frequent sewage backups. Current Projects
Wastewater Pump Station ImprovementsPump station improvement projects are typically identified to address reliability and excessive maintenance issues. Due to the level of mechanical and electrical equipment involved in a pump station it is imperative that projects are identified in order to keep systems functioning at the most efficient level. Pump station improvement projects can range from a complete station replacement to the addition of an onsite generator. Some projects may include increasing station capacity to address an SSO, or the elimination of a station with the construction of a gravity flow pipe system. Current Projects

Collection System Rehabilitation and Replacement (R&R)This program is also referred to as the Perpetual Life Program. The goal of this program is to maintain serviceability and reduce rainfall dependent inflow and infiltration (RDI/I) into the system by rehabilitating pipes in the collection system, including service lines. If a pipe, including service lines, have deteriorated to the point they cannot be rehabilitated, projects are developed to replace those pipe segments. Rehabilitating structurally sound pipes, and replacing those with structural defects, minimizes pipe collapse and reduces RDI/I in the system. Current Projects

Wastewater Service Line Replacement ProgramsThese programs are intended to provide for the reduction of rainfall dependant inflow and infiltration (RDI/I). This effort has been determined to be in the best interest of the rate payors since reducing unanticipated flows allows for minimizing the likelihood of sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and reduces the cost of treatment. To accomplish the program objectives, the utility funds the rehabilitation or replacement of service lines associated with current or past public rehabilitation projects, and for those property owners outside the limits of projects meeting specific maintenance and financial requirements. Furthermore, the utility also funds a loan program to provide assistance to property owners to remove extraneous water sources from the system. These sources may include footing drains, sump pump discharge lines, and down spouts. Current Projects
